More Photos and Details of the PlayStation Phone Surfaces on the Web

By now, most of you would have heard about the upcoming Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone. Internally codenamed as Zeus, the device is currently being tested on Android 2.2, as can also be seen in one of the images attached below. Android 2.3 / 3.0 Gingerbread will however be the shipping operating system when the device is out at the end of 2010, or early 2011.

Furthermore, the phone is said to be on a thicker side, with 17mm thickness to be exact. But that is to be expected given that it is more geared towards gamers with a PlayStation-like physical slide-out gamepad.

Gizmodo has done it again, well sort of anyway. As the title suggests, the long rumored Nexus Two is real, and this time, Google has picked Samsung instead of HTC to build it.

The Nexus Two looks a hell a lot like the current Galaxy S phones. Build-wise, it has same plastic look and feel to it, but it is curved around the back, like iPhone 3GS which makes it a bit more thinner and sexier than Galaxy S in my opinion. The reaction of Gizmodo’s source when he or she first saw it says it all about this device:

"When I first saw it from 10 feet away, I thought it was the Galaxy S," says our source, who got to handle one. "I was a little surprised it was the Nexus Two," because it’s so different from the Nexus One.

If you were hoping for Nexus Two to feature next-generation of smartphone hardware, you will be disappointed. While Gizmodo’s source isn’t sure about the internal components, but by the looks of it, it features almost exact same specs (processor and RAM) as the current Galaxy S series of phones. As for the comparison of Nexus Two with HTC’s Nexus One, there isn’t much different except for the 4-inch Super AMOLED display and a front-facing camera.

It will of course ship with Android 2.3 / 3.0 Gingerbread. Google is also reportedly working on a video chat software to compete with Apple’s FaceTime using same protocol as Google Talk.

Samsung and Google are expected to officially announce the device at a conference on November 8, in New York City

iOS 4.2 Jailbroken Using Sn0wbreeze


iH8sn0w, developer of Sn0wbreeze, which is the Windows version of iPhone Dev team’s PwnageTool has just revealed that he has managed to jailbreak iOS 4.2 for the iPad.

iH8sn0w has jailbroken iOS 4.2 beta 3 that was seeded to developers of Apple’s iOS Developer Program two weeks back.

Meanwhile, Windows users are still waiting for Sn0wbreeze 2.1. iH8sn0w had published screenshots of Sn0wbreeze 2.1 for iOS 4.1 few days back, which will use the same exploit that was used in limera1n.

Like PwnageTool 4.1.2 that is already available for Mac users, Sn0wbreeze 2.1 will also allow users to update their iPhone with a pre-jailbroken iOS 4.1 firmware while preserving the baseband so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w.

In case you’re not aware, Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 is already available, which supports the following devices:

iPhone 2G

iPhone 3G

iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) — Requires you to be already jailbroken. (If you are the old bootrom on Spirit use Spirit2Pwn or Jailbreakbme use jbme2pwn available in the repo http://repo.woowiz.net repo)

iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) — Requires you to be on 3.1.2.

iPod Touch 2G (MB)

iPod Touch 2G (MC) — Requires you to be on 3.1.2

iPod Touch 3G — Requires you to be on 3.1.2

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 will support additional devices (highlighted in bold below), essentially all devices that iOS 4.1 works with, which means iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (old and new bootrom), iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and the new Apple TV. It can also be used to jailbreak iPad on iOS 3.2.2.

There is currently no ETA on when iH8sn0w will release Sn0wbreeze 2.1.

Apple iPad Now Selling Directly From Verizon and AT&T

We reported recently of the iPad coming to Verizon. Well, starting from today, Verizon Wireless and AT&T will sell the iPad directly from their stores. The iPad will be sold in three different packages starting from $629 and going up to $829.

Verizon will sell the WiFi-only iPad along with a free contract-less Mobile Internet MiFi device ($20 for 1GB | $35 for 3GB | $50 for 5GB). Whereas AT&T will sell a WiFi+3G iPad ($15 for 250MB | $25 for 2GB + free access to AT&T’s 23K+ WiFi hotspots spread in USA).

If you haven’t bought an iPad yet and are considering getting it now, I personally suggest you go for the AT&T iPad. It offers more value per GB and gives you access to AT&T’s free hotspots. Verizon’s deal means you’ll have to carry the MiFi device everywhere which, for your kind information, lasts only 5-6 hours compared with iPad’s 10hr+ battery time.

But that besides the point. This is the Apple iPad coming to Verizon. Could this precede the Verizon iPhone 5?

Just a little heads up to inform you all that the iPhone Phonebook SIM card hacktivation trick has been completely blocked by Apple. The iPhone developer and hacker Sherif Hashim who first found this trick back in July has confirmed this on his Twitter account.

Sometime today, apple has fixed the bug thru which Phonebook sim cards used to activate, they r of NO USE anymore, don’t depend on/buy them

Fortunately, we ve hacktivation supplied by new jailbreak tools based on LR exploit, PB sim was a good help during spirit & star jbs thu

Fortunately though, with Limera1n and GreenPois0n, Phonebook SIM card hacktivation trick isn’t required anymore as the mentioned exploits are bootrom based, and therefore can hacktivate your phone without needing the original SIM.

Phonebook SIM card were required back in those userland based jailbreak days, with tools like JailbreakMe and Spirit to bypass “Connect to iTunes” screen.

How to Activate FaceTime on iPhone 4 in Unsupported Countries

How to Activate FaceTime on iPhone 4 in Unsupported Countries (Middle East) with FaceTime Hacktivator

Great news for iPhone 4 users in the Middle East ! There is a new hack available in Cydia which can enable FaceTime in unsupported countries like the one in Middle East on jailbroken iPhone 4.

Simply follow the step by step instructions posted below to activate FaceTime on your iPhone.

Step 1: First up, you will have to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.1 using GreenPois0n or Limera1n. Instructions can be found here.

Step 2: Once you are done with the jailbreak, Start Cydia, touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom, followed by “Sources”.

Step 3: Now touch on “Edit” and add http://apps.iphoneislam.com repository.

Step 4: Once the repository has been added, Search for “FaceTime Hacktivator” in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically patch all the files required for the FaceTime toggle to show up in Settings.

Step 5: Now reboot your iPhone and then navigate to Settings –> Phone and tap on the FaceTime toggle to turn it on. Your iPhone will now send an international SMS to activate FaceTime.



That’s it! Once FaceTime has been activated, you can make normal phone calls and then tap the on-screen FaceTime option once connected, or you can make a direct FaceTime to FaceTime call by selecting an individual contact and tapping the “FaceTime” button from Contacts app.

Apple May Have Secretly Cancelled the White iPhone 4 in favor of iPhone 5. And Here is the Reason Why !

Oh, white iPhone 4! How long we have waited for you! From a consumer standpoint, all you needed was white paintjob but after the incessant delay, upon delay upon delay we’ve really just started to lose hope.

It was just yesterday when we reported that Apple is delaying the White iPhone 4 to Spring 2011. This came after the July-delay and serves as yet another blow to our fantasies of owning a white version of the popular iPhone 4.

Real Reason: Light Leaks

Cult of Mac reports that the real, actual 100% fo-sho’ reason behind the delay was not the discolored buttons but actually because of “light leaks”. Explanation below:

When the white iPhone 4 takes a photograph, the semi-translucent glass cases leaks extra light into the camera which absolutely ruins photographs. Cult of Mac’s source said, “You don’t get accurate pictures on the white iPhone because of the color of the glass back. It washes out the pictures”. The source also said that Apple might have to do a complete redesign of the white iPhone 4 to deal with the light leaks.

The issue was discovered after a “last minute test” at a secret facility when the white iPhone 4 was used with a third-party case. Apple, of course, wouldn’t let an imperfect phone out (Antennagate is a separate topic, though).

White iPhone 4 Cancelled?

Besides this, BGR has received information that Apple is cancelling the release of the white iPhone 4 all-together. BGR’s source says that there will be another delay in March which would cause the release of the illusive white colored iOS device to interfere with the release of iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4S, whatever). Which would mean that the white iPhone 4 might get replaced with a white iPhone 5.

iPhone white delayed...!!!!

Apple has delayed White iPhone 4 again and stated that it will not be released until spring 2011. However, there is no reason explained for the delay. The information came to Reuters from a representative from the Apple on Tuesday that White iPhone 4 is delayed again. In July Apple has announced in a press conference that White iPhone 4 will be available by year end.



Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said that “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again”. She didn’t provide any cause for the delay. This is the third time Apple has delayed White iPhone 4. There have been many rumors causing behind the delay of White iPhone 4 including, the antennagate issue, screen color issue and the malfunctioning of its proximity sensor. But, still there is no confirmation of reason behind the delay by the company itself.

Apple is also launching Verizon iPhone by Jan 2011 and iPhone 5 is also anticipated by spring 2011. After breaking commitments many times should we really believe that Apple will really launch White Phone 4? Now I doubt of getting it by spring 2011 also.
